Career Development - Working With A CNA Consultant

PREPARATION FOR A DISCUSSION WITH YOUR RECRUITER

The initial contact with your recruiter from CNA is likely to have come completely out of the blue. You are doing a great job with your current company and are probably quite happy in your role. You are, however, open to discussions as your path through your future career is never closed.

Our interview process is mostly conducted by phone although this does depend to a degree on our client's requirements and the nature of the role.

Initial Discussions

The recruiter will probably know a little about you and possibly quite a lot about your business. The first stage will be to confirm who you are and what you do. All discussions with your CNA recruiter are in the strictest of confidence. If you are not in a comfortable environment to talk please say so and make arrangements for a discussion a little later.

In this first stage the CNA recruiter is unlikely to discuss with you a specific job opportunity although in all probability they will have one in mind. The discussion will be general along the lines of your background, experience, current role, previous roles. It will also include things such as your current location both working and living and possibly onto discussing your current remuneration package.

CABS®

At the next stage your CNA recruiter will go through a robust interview process with you. This will use our proprietary methodology which is very much based on your aspirations and will be much more detailed.

You will need to prepare details of your responsibilities in your current and previous roles, the skills you have employed and examples of your achievements.

Other types of questions that might be asked:

What have you done so far and what is important to you going forward?

What are you looking for in the future and how does this fit with your current company leadership's thoughts?

What location criteria do you have?

What frustrates you about your current role?

What do you really enjoy about your current role?

Referencing

In terms of preparation for a potential new role your CNA recruiter will want to talk to people you have worked with and a previous employer who you can trust and who is likely to be able to talk about you and your skills. Be prepared to give the name of at least 2 people who can be contacted by phone.

Does the role fit you or do you fit the role?

At the final stage we will always be honest with you. We will advise you on your aspirations and give you feedback on our discussions whether you are going to be successful and short-listed for the role we are searching. We will also tell you honestly if, in our view, you are likely to find a role which meets your aspirations.

Meeting all requirements

If you meet the requirements of our client, and the client and role, meets most of your aspirations we will seek your agreement to pass your information to our client. Again we will observe strictest confidence which we also impress on our clients. We will build a profile using your c.v. as the base to promote you in the short list of candidates for the job.

We will continue to talk to you throughout the process to arrange meetings and interviews with prospective employers.

If the position we have in mind is not right for you and yet you want us to help you discover alternative opportunities we will discuss the options for developing a marketing plan for you.
