VACANCY FOR STORES MANAGER

 

We are seeking a Stores Manager to lead the materials management and stores function within the Engineering department.

 

The main areas of responsibility will be: -

 

  • Line management of all stores personnel.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Assistant Engineering Managers on the need for parts and material required for immediate repairs and planned maintenance.
  • Oversee the receipt, co-ordination and safety of material coming through the stores and ensure that orders arrive and are issued on time to the right destination and in the right quantities.
  • Maintain computer and paper records on stock received, held and issued.
  • Establish and review, in conjunction with the Engineering Manager, appropriate stock holdings relevant to the current fleet including: Impress; owned; service exchange; service/MOT schedule. Maintain these stock levels to agreed standards within budget and ensure that accurate records are kept.
  • Undertake stock checks in accordance with established procedure. Investigate and report any identified inaccuracies.
  • Maintain the stores area in a suitable manner for the access, secure storage and issue of items. Ensure the stores working environment is kept clean and tidy and complies with the company health and safety policy.
  • Respond appropriately to all environmental and technical developments.
  • Create orders for engineering stores/tools and material liaising with suppliers as required and source alternative suppliers as necessary. Raise purchase orders for premises and plant maintenance work.
  • Operate within the allocated budget and meet delivery deadlines by being flexible and working in the most efficient way with given resources. Constantly seek new ways to improve the stores efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports on stock availability and spend in accordance with the Stores Meeting Agenda procedure.

 

The post holder should ideally have knowledge of Computer systems (including FACT, spreadsheets and word processing), stock control procedures and budgetary constraints, bus engineering and other parts, parts catalogues and sources of parts/material supply

 

Sound interpersonal skills including communication, both orally and in writing, is essential as is the ability to be accurate, make decisions and possess an aptitude for computers including basic spreadsheets, word processing and data inputting.

                                                      

The salary for this post is £35,000.00 per annum for a 38 hour week. The postholder will normally be required to work Monday to Friday but will need to be flexible about the need to change working hours at short notice to suit the needs of the business; this could include weekend working, out of hours or night working in certain circumstances.

 

The person appointed will be required to serve a probationary period of up to 12 months before confirmation in the post.
