Electronics Overview

The UK's electronics industry is worth £23 billion a year and is the fifth largest in the world and, going by turnover and the number of design houses, over 40 per cent of Europe's independent electronic designers work in the UK.

In the UK there are approximately 11,500 electronics businesses, the majority small companies, employing around 250,000 people and accounts for nearly 20% cent of total UK inward investment projects.

Electronics has always been an international industry and globalisation of the supply chain is increasing. Globalisation has also affected the design and manufacturing parts of the UK industry more than other European industries due to manufacturing moving off-shore, first to eastern Europe and then to Asia - particularly China. There is no doubt that this huge exodus of electronic manufacturing over the last few years has hit the UK component industry.

To keep abreast of all these constant changes, companies are having to modify their business models to adapt to the market. This means they often need people with new or specialist skill-sets who may be difficult to find and attract - and, to keep a competitive edge, they need the best available. Although they are looking for the best candidates, these candidates are probably not looking for them. This is where clients of CNA have an advantage - our consultants are able to use their specialist knowledge and experience to identify these difficult to find candidates and present our client's opportunity to them.

Electronic Component Sector

CNA's Electronic Component Industry practice has been operating successfully since 1998. It is led by Keith Dickins, who is a qualified Electronics Engineer and spent his working life in the industry. We have a great deal of experience in the Electronic Component industry, encompassing both manufacturing and distribution. We understand the technologies and the terminology, and have built a reputation for our quality - not only in terms of the high calibre of candidates we source for our clients but quality in terms of the service we provide for both our candidates and clients alike. For our candidate we will have an understanding of the role you do and the roles you aspire to and for our client there is comfort in knowing we understand your requirements and will find the quality candidate with the ability and knowledge to be a success for you.

Results speak for themselves: the majority of clients utilise CNA's Electronic Component practice on a repeat basis. With an increasing number of job applicants swamping agencies and job sites for fewer jobs, enlightened companies are using CNA Executive Search, instead of agencies, to discretely recruit for commercially or internally sensitive roles, or shield them from an avalanche of unsuitable applicants. Having the right calibre of people in business-critical positions is more vital than ever.
